Design systems that engineers actually use
A Figma library is not a system. A system is tokens, components, and rules that match the code.

Most design systems die of parallelism. Design has a button. Code has three. The documentation has a fourth, last updated during a rebrand.
The repair is unglamorous. Name the tokens after intent, not colour. Generate them into the frontend. Put the component in the repository the product uses. If a variant cannot be implemented, it is not a variant. It is a wish.
Density and empty states matter more than the marketing palette. B2B products live in tables, permissions, and errors. A system that only specifies the happy card is a brochure.
Handoff is a conversation. The designer who sits in the pull request will save more time than the designer who comments on a file at 4pm.
When we say “design before decoration”, this is what we mean: the system is the design. Colour is the last 4%.
